ELA HOMEWORK- a) Writing opinions page- about ANYTHING they like. b) fiction and nonfiction reading and comprehension pages (turtles and mothers day) 3. MATH HW 4. A.R.- We have moved up the last day of AR to NEXT MONDAY, MAY 6th! OTHER UPDATES 1. Sadly the EGG drop will not be rescheduled for this year!! Keep those wonderful ideas for next year! 2. Hello parents! THANK YOU AGAIN for all the help during the field trip to NOLA! It is always an adventure and I appreciate y'all so much for helping guide the students through it! I loved hearing one student say the next day, "I was sad after because, I realized I would never live that field trip day again!". It reminds me how special these moments are for the kids and for us, too! REMINDERS and UPDATES: IXL homework: Yes, yes it's ANOTHER online resource! This, however, is such a wonderful source that is aligned to each standard. (If you have older students at WHAM- you are probably quite familiar with it.) Please follow the directions on the back of the homework paper for assistance. The passcodes and usernames are located in the back of their binder. Please let me know if you are having trouble! If doing online work becomes an issue- let me know! We can work out something. www.ixl.com (go through this link..not the WHAM link!) Moonlight in the Garden- THURSDAY evening at 5:30 PM- 7:30 P..M. (if there is any payment concerns, please contact me!) ZEARN EXTRA MATH GRADE- if you would like to complete the OPTIONAL math grade please login to ZEARN and have your student complete a lesson! (the login information is on your student's binder) AR BOOKS- Last day to take quizzes is FRIDAY MARCH 1st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ** MATH HOMEWORK** The geometric pieces do not need to be glued! Weekly Updates: Chocolate Order Forms- Please look through their backpacks to find another fundraiser for World's Finest Chocolates. WEDNESDAY- There is EARLY dismissal at 12:45 PM. There will be NO EXTENDED DAY. NOLA- Please remember to send in the permission slips for your student! Student cost is $42. Please let me know if payment is any concern. (Parent spots are all filled on the bus, but please join us in NOLA if you are able to!) AR- Please encourage your child to READ, READ, READ! Classroom Book- Your child was sent home information about a class book. We have been working hard on writing how-to's. Your child has the opportunity to purchase a book that we will create! We will also have one for the classroom, so your child will still be able to see their work published! Please return form ASAP whether you decide to purchase a book or not.
This week: Valentine's Day - We will exchange Valentines for our classmates on Thursday! Please bring enough Valentines for our class (23 students). Please only include your child's name. Hello parents! First off, I am so proud of all of the students and their hard work this year that was celebrated at the Honors Assembly this morning. I might be a little biased, but I really think that its a WONDERFUL group full of creative, hilarious, bright, and kind students. Just a few updates this week. *** We are teaching commas and are teaching the Oxford comma in first grade! Please support us at home with the Oxford comma as well! *** -Have students read AR books! -Magnolia Mounds Field Trip is NEXT Thursday! -Aquarium Field trip $42- due in March! * Please contact me if payment is any issue!* -Yearbook sales will be available LATER THIS WEEK! This week we are celebrating 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL! We have been looking forward to this day all year long. Remember our 100 day project is due FRIDAY! (Friday is actually 99 days- next Monday will be 100 ;) ) Field Trip information: Magnolia Mound ($10 per student and adult) and permission slip are due FRIDAY! (1/25) NOLA aquarium and museum ($42 per student and adult) LIMITED adult seating left. (4 spots!). ** Please contact me if Field Trip cost is any issue** Honors Recognition Ceremony- January 28th 8:45 AM. Each of our students will receive an award! They have worked very hard for the first half of the year. Come meet us in the gym for a special ceremony! (Kindergarten and First grade together) SOUPer bowl- Bring in any can goods for our schools can good drive to benefit the Baton Rouge food bank! AR Test and Reading PLEASE PLEASE encourage the reading of books for AR quizzes! These are a weekly assignment to take two. I will start pulling cards for students who have not read any each week. These help so much with frequency and comprehension!
